If I could leave just (1) arrangement to the world, “WHEN I SURVEY” would be it. I styled it for an adult student who only had use of 1-2 fingers and wanted a beautiful piece to share at church for Lent. She played my crossover warm-ups regularly (soon to follow in a book!), so I thought to use the warm-up idea to frame a simple hymn for her. This is the result, that I play time & again.
I created a 2nd verse for another church that requested a longer version. Verses 3&4 followed, driven by wanting to do a video of the entire song. In SB&BS style, each verse is progressively harder. Pick & choose what suits your level & event.
The video is of an unexpected duet: as I warmed up to practice for a church service, my daughter jumped in on organ (sheet music available sometime in future). I included lyrics so this video can be used for worship, although it’s really an informal video, shot with my cell phone, as a demo of the hand positions I designed.
I hope you enjoy this arrangement as much as both me and my students have, for over 10 years now.
